Individual & Family Dynamics 120

Fellow Individual & Family Dynamic 120 students,

We are on a new adventure of learning and I must admit, it’s certainly a learning curve for both of us.  I miss our daily interactions but know that our safety is of the utmost importance (mind and body).

This week’s assignment includes a remote, a bag of popcorn (or snack of choice), your full undivided attention to watch FREEDOM WRITERS starring Hilary Swank.  OMG … this is such a great movie (of which we would have watched at some point anyway).  Without giving out too much info, here’s a break down of the movie.  A teacher’s, Ms. Gruwell, goal is to reach/teach students who come from different ethnic backgrounds, social status, and who carry a whole range of issues.  I will be looking forward to your comments (through email) with regards to your impression of the movie, the characters, etc.

You can find this movie on Netflix or on youtube:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qyt13_pUFjQ

Next week, I will provide you with a series of questions in relation to the movie.  This would be a good time to start a journal (note names of characters, challenges viewed, etc.).

Please feel free to contact me through email at elaine.levesquegodin@nbed.nb.ca.  If you have any questions or concerns.  And I am always looking for great resources to utilize that would be interesting for students. Suggestions welcomed.

Grace (my loving cat) is never too far from my side and giving some quality cuddle time.

Keep up your CONDOR SPIRIT!

Regards,

Elaine Levesque-Godin

Financial & Workplace Mathematics 110

Fellow Financial and Workplace Mathematics 110 students,

We are on a new adventure of learning and I must admit, it’s certainly a learning curve for both of us.  I miss our daily interactions but know that our safety is of the utmost importance (mind and body).

As part of your curriculum for this course is a section in relating to puzzles and games (N1: Analyze puzzles and games that involve numerical reasoning, using problem-solving strategies.).  So here is your challenge for the week.  Learn a new game or puzzle that does not involve technology!!  Ask someone at home if they know any card games (for example, crib) or play a board game you have at home.  Try to develop a strategy for solving the puzzle or winning the game.  And if you are unable to find a deck of cards at home or a game, then maybe create one!

Please feel free to contact me through email at elaine.levesquegodin@nbed.nb.ca. If you have any questions or concerns.  And I am always looking for great resources to utilize that would be interesting for students.
