Last week of extended learning.  This weeks chalenge is to determine how much vegetation can one grow with limited resources.  Can one really grow a whole stock of celery without seeds?  Are pototoes easy to grow at home?  What is the process to grow my own tomatoes from store bought ones?  Take a look at these videos:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jt8QdgxuAsQ  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJuXpiEjdcc  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jEt_120VEAM   I am looking forward to seeing my sunflowers I planted (from seed).  Have a safe and healthy summer!

Last week of extended learning!  So what's up this week you may ask?  Ever view the movie The Pursuit of Happyness starring Will Smith?  This movie will show one's determination, struggles, and sacrifices to fulfill a dream.  You will also witness the discrimination this person/character must endure because of the color of his skin.  Is this story true?  To my knowledge and background information most of the incidences are true and is based on a real person's struggles.  SO what is your assignment you may ask.  I am asking you to speak out against discrimination, racism, inequality, gender bias, etc.  These struggles are real and very personal for many.  Please be kind and considerate considering the very chaotic world we live in.  And so, your extended learning for this course ends this week.  Hoping the summer is a very safe and healthy one.

Due Date:

Monday, June 8, 2020

Happy Monday to all!  Two more weeks of extended learning and then (for you) it will (almost) be officially summer (but with today's cooler temperature it feel like almost winter).  Have you ever watched the movie Rudy.  This is a compelling movie about a young man who has always been told he was to small to play college football.  Ever been told you cannot do something (for whatever reason)?  Watch how this young man's determination fulfilled his dream to play for Notre Dame. It is a fitting movie as we know teenagers battle with struggles on various levels (and adults too).  I am hoping this movie inspires you and you can express you're impression the following ways:  create a poem, write an article for a local newspaper, write a letter to Rudy, or write a song.  Feel free to use any method of expression to indicate how you felt or how Rudy inspired you in any way.  Second last week of extended learning, one more to go!  Hoping you're continuing to stay safe and healthy (mind and body).

Due Date:

Monday, June 1, 2020
