Happy holiday Monday!  This week's focus is to view your new found knowledge of mitosis (last weeks assignment) of the process of mitosis and apply it to the following this week.  Review the stages of mitosis under a microscope through Google.  Type in "mitosis under the microscope" and see for yourself the many phases as it appears in real time.  This fascinating process if the key to our well being as a multicellular organism.  Take a look at this video:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFzuw6ZWOGI  And to review the phases of mitosis here is a link to one of my favorite videos:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXVoTj06zwg  Happy Monday to all!  Take advantage to getting some vitamin D in the sun today!  Continue to stay safe ...always!

Happy Monday to all!  This week's assignment is to research the process of mitosis (identify the names of the four phases of mitosis, indicate what occurs at each stage in the animal cell during mitosis, identify what can alter or change this process, and the importance of this process to many life forms).  The website www.cellsalive.com has the phases of the process for you to review.  There are many websites you can find providing great info and graphics of this process.  Hope you are continuing to learn something (as Mr. Murphy would tells us during our morning announcments).  Please continue to stay safe and healthy!

Does all this rain affect our mental/physical wellness and our attitudes?  What are ways one can develop their positive attitudes?  How does one's attitude affect their behaviour?  People utilize defense mechanisms or methods used to deal with life situations (methods include projections, rationalizations, displacement, conversion, regression, idealization, and fantasy).  List and describe techniques for building positive attitudes.  Let me know what you've found in your research.  I will utilize this rainy day to reflect on my own postive attitude, somewhere the sun is shining.  Stay safe and healthy!

Rain, rain, and more rain!  Music to my hears actually - a true gardeners outlook!!!  Hoping everyone is continuing to be well both physically and mentally!  Last week I posted a website for your review (www.cellsalive.com). What makes the difference between plant and animal cells are "organelles", the tiny structures within each cell that are specialized. What are each of the following organelles/parts responsible for?  Cell/plasma membrane, *cell wall, nucleus, mitochondrion, *centrioles, Golgi apparatus/body/complex (this one has many other references, most common is apparatus), endoplasmic reticulum (smooth and rough), *chloroplast, ribosomes, and lysosome.  This is your assigned focus for this week, determine the description/function of each part of a cell.  Note, those terms with an asterisk (*) indicates they are either found in a plant or animal cell but not both.  Watch this video to assist you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=URUJD5NEXC8  Stay safe and stay healthy!

Am I the only one loving all this rain?  Gardeners, farmers, and people who own their own wells are welcoming this gift of rain.  Though I will miss the feel/warm of the sun over the next few days, I will look forward to all my flowers growing and flourishing.  This weeks unit to focus on is REPRODUCTION AND CELL DIVISION.  For those of you who are ahead, please put your energy in the HUMAN BODY SYSTEMS UNIT.  For any reason, you cannot see these units, please let me know (i can assign them to your file).  Missing everyone but knowing NB is the safest province gives me a big reason to smile and keep positive.  Please continue to stay safe and healthy.

Please continue to stay safe and healthy.  Although I cannot go out for my walk today, I will try out an online activity to keep me focused and well.  Have a great week!
